English Placement Test for Nhan Viet High School’s students

On 28 September 2017, Kent International College (Kent Vietnam) has partnered with Nhan Viet High-school to organize the English placement test based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR for short) for Grade 12 students at 219-222 Xo Viet Nghe Tinh, Ward 17, Binh Thanh District, HCMC.

CEFR is widely accepted as a standard for grading an individual’s English proficiency and is approved by the Prime Minister of Vietnam to be utilized as a language proficiency framework within the project entitled “Teaching and Learning Foreign Languages in the National Education System, Period 2008-2020”.

Based on the official result, more than 50% of the students have achieved remarkable grades. The remarkable results, henceforth, demonstrate the effectiveness in the early implementation of the language training program of the School Boards.

After completing the test, Nguyen Ngoc Cam Tu – a student from Nhan Viet High School – evaluated that the test difficulty was at medium level and required solid knowledge that can be obtained at school. The test content, nonetheless, was reasonably distributed from basic to advanced. Thanks to the placement test, she now can self-assess her ability and could make improvement to overcome her weaknesses.

Furthermore, students also seize this opportunity to further explore the growing trend of studying abroad, which has become more popular in the age group between 16-18. Most of the students go studying abroad since Year 10 or 11 through the International Foundation Programme 1+3. The students only have to attend on every Saturday and Sunday to successfully complete the International Foundation Programme .

Moreover, Kent Student Union warmly greeted Nhan Viet High School students with various activities and music performance.

This program is one of the activities planned to promote vocational education and to improve English proficiency for high school students that Kent Vietnam School Board will continue to look forward to in 2018.
